Access to Serres and the Xenakis Museum

We can reach Thessaloniki by plane, bus, taxi, car and then:

From the city or the airport, by car or taxi in Serres, in about an hour, via the vertical in Egnatia road, Thessaloniki-Serres-Promachonas.

Starting from Thessaloniki we reach the junction where to the left leads to Sidirokastro, Greek-Bulgarian border. Next we turn to the right and follow the Serres Ring Road. At the height of the intersection to Neochori, N. Skopos, Pethelino, turn left towards the city, follow the road to the right, and after about 300 m, on our right, we meet the former PAPALOUKA camp, now KONSTANTINOS KARAMANLIS CULTURAL PARK. We enter the former camp, from the main gate and turn left following the artistic arrows.

By OASTH bus, which starts at the airport, we reach the KTEL MACEDONIA station, which is located on the west side of Thessaloniki and then move to Serres by Bus, via the KTEL Serres.

Accessibility

  • People with reduced mobility
    There are parking spaces near the entrance of the Museum and then access ramps at the level of the entrance of the Museum.
    The movement inside the Museum is not hindered, there is an accessible toilet and also certain mobility aids such as: wheelchair, wheeled walker, folding stroller.
  • People with reduced vision
    Outside, around the Museum, there is installed, a guide for the blind. Inside the Museum there are QR codes on selected text boards as well as on the “Museum Tour” sign. Through the QR codes one can receive the corresponding text in Greek or in English.
    For three selected works, haptic copies have been made, through a 3D printer, while they are accompanied by text in Braille and a relevant QR code with embossed frame.
  • People with hearing problems
    In the projection room of the Museum, where a short autobiography of the artist is displayed, there are subtitles and also a simultaneous performance in sign language.
  • People with mental problems
    A video has been created which will be sent to special schools, in view of their visit, in order for the instructors to prepare their visit.
